18.08–18.09 Tallinn Fringe Festival, Tallinn

The Tallinn Fringe Festival is a diverse arts festival that began in 2016 as a creative showcase for circus, theatre, dance, music, and fire performances. Now in its 8th edition, the festival features a range of international and local shows across multiple venues in Tallinn.

 

24.–30.08 The Chamber Music Festival, Tallinn

The 20th edition of the Tallinn Chamber Music Festival, will offer a variety of concerts blending different art forms, such as poetry and audiovisuals, with chamber music. This year’s festival features renowned artists like violinist Jan Söderblom, cellist Jan-Erik Gustafsson, and composer Rein Rannap.

 

29.–31.08 Baltic Film Days, Tartu

Baltic Film Days is an event celebrating the best of Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian cinema. Chris Norman, the legendary original voice of “Smokie,” will perform concerts in Tallinn and Tartu, featuring classic hits and songs from his new album, “Junction 55.” These concerts mark the world premiere of his latest album, which showcases 12 new songs that capture his signature sound and songwriting prowess. World-renowned trance DJ and producer Armin van Buuren will take the stage at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds on August 31. Known for his electrifying performances and chart-topping hits like “This Is What It Feels Like” and “Blah Blah Blah,” van Buuren has captivated audiences worldwide with his unique blend of trance and progressive house music. Fans in Tallinn can expect a night filled with high-energy beats, stunning visuals, and signature sounds.

 

31.08 The Night of Ancient Lights, Around Estonia

Muinastulede öö, or the Night of Ancient Bonfires, is an annual tradition in Estonia where bonfires are lit along the coast to commemorate the historic beacon fires known as “iilastuled.” Originating from the time of the Vikings, these fires once guided late-arriving sailors and communicated messages between coastal communities. Today, the event has become a nationwide celebration of unity and positivity, with bonfires creating a chain of light along the coast, evoking a sense of togetherness and honouring the sea that connects us. Everyone is invited to participate by lighting their own bonfire or joining an organised event, contributing to this beautiful summer tradition.

The weekend includes a family day with children’s races, a wheelchair race, and the Pärnu Evening Race, along with a certified 10 km race along the Pärnu River.
