Narva’s A-Art Gallery, Astri Centre, will open its exhibition “Põimumine”, or in English, “Intertwining”, by Ukrainian contemporary artist Viktoria Berezina on 11 July at 17:00. The exhibition is curated by Eduard Zentsik.
The exhibition consists of collages that deal with the connection between humans and nature, as well as the themes of memory, the present, and inner experience. The works feature elements in which the human body merges with the landscape, for example, hair turns into branches or hands reach towards the light like roots. The artist uses these images to symbolise human vulnerability, renewal, and introspection.
Nature in the exhibition does not only serve as a visual backdrop, but is an active part of the narrative. It represents a place to which one can return when the inner world is unbalanced. In the works, nature acts as both a place of respite and a resource in the midst of crises.
