Autumn Jazz Festival Starts Soon

Sügisjazz, which is known in English as Autumn Jazz, is the autumn concert season organised by Jazzkaar. It will return from 11 September until 14 October, with five artists from six countries performing in five Estonian cities at…eight venues. Sügisjazz 2026 offers a deliberately varied programme: Estonian folk music meeting contemporary jazz, Brazilian traditions meeting improvisation, French chanson being reinterpreted, and experimental combinations of voice, electronics, and acoustic instruments. As it’s so spread out during its month-long calendar, fans should be able to attend as many concerts as they want.
The first night of Sügisjazz features Paabel, one of Estonia’s best-known folk ensembles. After a 12-year break, they are releasing their new album, “Ajatu”, or “Timeless”, which is the band’s fifth full-length album. They will be the centre of this year’s festival, performing…you guessed it…five times in five cities, although only once in each city.
A French and Norwegian trio called T.I.M., or Tomorrow Is Minimalist, will perform at Philly Joe’s Jazz Club in Tallinn on 13 September. Brazilian Frederico Heliodoro will perform on 28 September in Tallinn’s Fotografiska, and the Rebecca Kontus Trio from Estonia will present its new album “Hymne à l’amour” at Põhjala Factory in Tallinn on 29 September. And on 10 October, Estonian artist Maarja Nuut will perform in the Kumu Auditorium with the British vocal ensemble Shards, and their Swiss drummer.
