Medieval Days in Tallinn’s Old Town

Tallinn was founded in the heart of the medieval era, when knights rode horses and fought with swords, merchants sold their imported wares from countries as far away as Finland, and damsels hopefully weren’t too often in distress. Once a year this atmosphere from nearly a thousand years ago is recreated in one of the few remaining authentic medieval old towns in the world: Tallinn’s Old Town.

For three days, 11–13 July, knights will joust, workshops will teach the townsfolk how things used to be done, revelers can enjoy medieval dancing and music, and old-style food will be available everywhere. Each day has a specific programme.

The first day will feature the Reval Cup 2025, where knights in shining armour will battle for the attention of royal ladies. Meet at the Viru Gates at 17:00 for the Grand Procession, and be sure to visit the Medieval Market and Village on Town Hall Square. At 19:00, there will be a concert in the St Nicholas Church and Museum featuring Rondellus, whose album “Sabbatum” gained international acclaim.

On the second day, there will be another knights’ tournament, and again the Medieval Market and Village in the same location. Maqam, a medieval musical ensemble, will be playing throughout the day. The third day will feature medieval dancing by Fioretto.

The full programme and more information are available here.
