Brainstorm in Concert

In the year 2000, a relatively unknown band from a relatively unknown country at the time captured the hearts of Europe with their third-place Eurovision song, “My Star”. That’s right, if you recognise the title, then you know we’re talking about Brainstorm! On 28 August, they’ll have a concert in Tallinn’s Fotografiska venue in Telliskivi.

Prāta Vētra, as they’re known in Latvia, formed in 1989, just a bunch of 14-year-olds who were heavily influenced by Depeche Mode, U2, and R.E.M. Slowly throughout the 90s, they recorded and released singles and albums, eventually gaining notoriety in Germany and the UK. One of their songs, “Airplanes” as it’s known in English, became one of the most commercially successful songs in Latvia in 1995.

Brainstorm have released 11 studio albums internationally, 16 albums in Latvian, and five in Russian. To say they are prolific would be an understatement. This concert promises to have a wide variety of their greatest music from multiple decades.

At the opening of Anton Corbijn’s exhibition in Fotografiska, Brainstorm gave a surprise performance. This time they’re giving a full concert, and tickets are available here. Given that the venue is Fotografiska, you can also enjoy other exhibitions before the concert, and there will also be live DJ music before and after Brainstorm’s set.

More information is available here.
