The 35th year of Jazzkaar in Estonia also includes spinoff festivals, such as this year’s Autumn Jazz. Starting in early September, there will be five concerts at various venues in Tallinn where visitors can enjoy world-class jazz…and yes, this includes Estonian jazz musicians! Musicians from France and Austria will also be giving concerts.
The first concert is on 4 September in Fotografiska, by Argo Vals. An instrumentalist and composer, Argo is primarily known for his wonderful melodies played on his instrument of choice: the guitar. He has released three solo albums, and has been included in several compilations and collaborations.
Jazzkaar was originally started in 1990, and has now grown in popularity to such an extent that it is now one of the most widely-renowned jazz festivals in Europe, if not the world. Musicians from around the globe travel to Estonia to perform at the various festivals and concerts associated with Jazzkaar. Not to mention people. It’s a major tourist attraction for a very good reason.
The second concert will be on 20 September, featuring Séverine Morfin Mad Maple from France. The third concert will be on 21 September, with HAEZZ from Austria. 4 October will witness Estonia’s superstar ensemble I Wear* Experiment in a unique lineup, and 18 October will have Raul Vaigla, Marie Vaigla, and Tero Saarti on stage. As the dates get closer, we’ll talk more about these specific concerts.
