Blues Brothers Vibes in Tallinn for Christmas 2027?

Estonians are famously enthusiastic theatre-goers. The best proof comes on the days when tickets for a new theatre season or a highly anticipated production go on sale. Ticketing websites almost inevitably crash or display messages such as: “You are in the queue. There are 6178 people ahead of you. Do not refresh your browser or you will lose your place.”
Getting tickets, not even for a particular performance, but simply for any date during a nine-month theatre season, can feel like a task requiring magical powers, well-connected friends or lottery-winning luck, especially during those first few hours or even minutes of sales.
Here, however, is an exception that proves the rule. This time the event is not a theatre production but a concert, one that already invites fans to dust off their playlists of Motown, soul and blues classics. As soon as the opening notes begin to play, it may be time to dig a dark suit and tie out of the wardrobe and find those black sunglasses hidden in a drawer. The Blues Brothers are coming to Tallinn, or more precisely, “The Chicago Blues Brothers—Live at the Country Bunker”, a live music theatre production.
Unlike Jake and Elwood Blues in John Landis’s classic film, who famously declared they were on “a mission from God,” there appears to be no need to rush to the online ticket office this time, even though ticket sales for the performance at Alexela Concert Hall began as early as mid-June. The reason is simple: the performance is scheduled for 19 December 2027, a full year and a half away.
The Baltic Guide has no statistics to confirm it, but seeing the advertisement inevitably raises the question of whether this might set a record for how early tickets have gone on sale for a concert in Estonia.
According to the promotional material, audiences can expect the same production that has played to sold-out houses in London’s West End, presented by a show that is “celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.” The production promises a fully live performance, with no backing tracks, combining black comedy with the legendary music made famous by the Blues Brothers. The show begins at 19:00 and runs for approximately two hours, including one intermission.
Tickets, priced from just under €50 to just over €78 depending on seating, do not appear to have sold in large numbers during their first month on sale through the Piletilevi online ticket office.
Why might that be? One possible explanation is that, according to the show’s own website, the troupe, founded in England shortly before the turn of the millennium, celebrates the 45th anniversary of “The Blues Brothers” film itself rather than its own history, despite the wording used in promotional material distributed by the Estonian organiser. Another possibility is that the company bringing the production to Estonia is registered as operating in the fields of restaurant services and other retail trade, and reported turnover of just over €17,000 during the first six months of this year.
Still, there is no reason to jump to conclusions. The same company is also behind a Roxette UK tribute concert planned for Tallinn in March 2027 and a June 2027 performance by actor and musician Russell Crowe and his band. Securing agreements for productions of that scale would hardly be possible without credible business arrangements. More likely, this reflects a company expanding or reshaping its activities—or, to borrow Jake and Elwood’s famous line once again, perhaps simply “a mission from God.”
