Urban Festival UIT in Tartu

UIT is an art festival taking place throughout the entire city of Tartu. Featuring performance art, art installations, music, and even games, this festival will offer something for everyone. “UIT” is based on the Estonian word “uitama”, which means “to wander”, which is exactly what visitors are intended to do: wander around the city, and experience everything UIT has to offer.
Artists from several countries will participate. The first day of UIT will have a lecture by Eik Hermann about the true nature of humans, which in his opinion are “unfinished drafts”. The talk will be in English, and entry is free of charge. There will also be a guided tour of the Uus-Ihaste section of Tartu, featuring the unique architecture of the area. The “Playful City” installation programme will also be available every day of the UIT festival, with eight locations throughout Tartu.
The second day will have several more installations, tours, and workshops available, including a parkour workshop, and an open-air cinema. The third day will be similar, but with the addition of a glass-blowing workshop. The fourth day will feature Karlova Play Day, a new community event in the Karlova district. This event will have games for children and adults alike in several locations.
The evening of the fourth day will feature the Tour d’ÖÖ, a mass bicycle ride through the city. Participation and/or watching is free.
