The Perfect Weekend in Kloogaranna

Kloogaranna is a small, sandy beach area just 45 minutes due west by car or train from Tallinn. Surrounded by pristine pine forests, stepping off the train gives you that instant feeling that you’re in a healthy environment, simply due to the scent of pine enveloping you. But what is this perfect weekend? Full disclosure: it does depend largely on the weather.

The Kloogaranna Summerfest 2025 event is happening on 9 August, right by the beach. While this is a regular festival by Estonia’s standards, Estonia’s standards are fairly high, guaranteeing an extremely memorable event. Major artists taking to the stage are Terminaator, Shannon, Anne Veski, Hunt, and DJ Kert Allas, plus many more still yet to be announced. Any one of these artists could provide an idyllic experience when performed with an Estonian sunset in the background.

As with all modern festivals, there will be ample selections of food, beverages, and other forms of entertainment. More information is available here. It is recommended to arrive by train, if for no other reason than having less to worry about, and getting an authentic Estonian summer festival experience. You can drive too, though, of course.

If you do decide to drive, then this is what makes this weekend so perfect: exploring the surrounding areas. Yes, there are several hiking trails available, but it’s easier to reach such sites as the ruins of the Klooga Manor House, and even a quick nine holes at the Niitvälja Golf Club. Treat yourself to the wonderful LaSpa in Laulasmaa, and visit the Arvo Pärt Centre just up the road.

As for natural wonders, start out at the Treppoja Cascade, less than a kilometer east of Kloogaranna. Drive a bit to see the famous Keila Waterfall, with an excellent park to explore. All along the rocky coast with massive cliffs you can easily find walkways down to the water, revealing very private beaches.

If you want even more adventure, then challenge yourself to find the Naage Caves. Enjoy your time in Kloogaranna!
