After last year’s successful tour, the ballet production of The Great Gatsby returns to Tallinn tomorrow, November 20. Featuring acclaimed dancers from the United States and Europe, the production has already attracted more than 70,000 spectators worldwide.
The production is choreographed by the highly acclaimed contemporary dance artist Dwight Rodin, who has collaborated with Cirque du Soleil, Madonna, Prince, U2 and Lenny Kravitz, as well as creating dance scenes for Hollywood films. The music for the ballet is by music producer Konstantin Meladze and composer Yuri Shepeta.
Set in the 1920s during the era of American Prohibition, the show depicts a world where underground smugglers flourished while much of the population struggled with post-war hardship. The story centres on Gatsby, a wealthy entrepreneur who becomes romantically involved with a married woman. Themes of ambition, wealth, love and betrayal unfold leading to a tragic ending.
Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby brings the timeless story to life in a visually stunning and emotionally charged production.
