Exciting Events in Estonia this Week 

 

06.07–18.08 Tartu 2024 Car-Free Avenue, Tartu

From July 6 to August 12, a section of Vabaduse Puiestee will be transformed into a car-free oasis for the fifth time, offering a space to relax, play, and enjoy diverse events. As part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations, the Car-Free Avenue will feature performances from both local musicians and international artists, as well as other activities.

 

01–22.08 Summer Classics Concerts in Kadriorg, Tallinn

The summer concert series “Suveklassika Kadriorus”, which takes place every Thursday in July and August at Kadriorg Palace, features exciting and tasteful musical ensembles. Set in one of Estonia’s most beautiful and historical concert halls, with a tradition of music-making dating back to the 18th century, this series offers a rare opportunity to experience live music in an aristocratic setting. 

 

05–10.08 Tartu Love Film Festival “Tartuff”, Tartu

The Tartu Love Film Festival, organised by the Black Nights Film Festival, is held in Tartu Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats), where guests can enjoy films for free on a specially set up large open-air screen. Additionally, documentaries are shown at Tartu Elektriteater.

 

09.08 Humanity’s Last Breath Concert, Tallinn

Swedish deathcore band Humanity’s Last Breath, known for their technical, brutal, and virtuosic guitar work, will perform in Tallinn. Hailing from Helsingborg, the band has released four acclaimed albums, including the 2021 “Välde,” and are known for their thall metal style featuring complex rhythms and dissonant chords. Led by guitarist and producer Buster Odeholm, their sound is monolithic, fearsome, and perpetually dark.

 

09–10.08 Tartu Food and Wine Festival, Tartu

The Tartu Food and Wine Festival offers a fantastic entertainment program in both the food and wine areas on Friday and Saturday. The event features a variety of food vendors, live music, wine tastings with top sommeliers, and special dinners, with additional home cafés and activities on August 11.

 

09–11.08 KÕU (Electronical Music Festival), Rõuge

The KÕU Electronic Music Festival, held from August 9-11, features eight stages of diverse electronic music genres, including House, Techno, and Ambient. Set in a captivating natural environment, the festival combines music with street art, performance art, and installations, creating a vibrant audiovisual experience. 

 

09.–11.08 Viru Folk, Käsmu

Viru Folk, a beloved music festival held in the picturesque village of Käsmu, celebrates its 17th edition from August 9-11, 2024. This year’s festival will focus on Alpine culture and features performances from renowned musicians from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, including Hubert von Goisern and Claudia Schwab, alongside local acts like Metsatöll and RÜÜT.

 

09–11.08 Opinion Festival, Paide

The Opinion Festival is aimed at enhancing debate culture and civic education. Held annually, it offers free and open discussions on a wide range of topics, from national security to social innovation. The festival brings together individuals and organisations to engage in meaningful conversations, fostering understanding and sharing perspectives. All debates are recorded and made available online, contributing to a rich resource for public discourse.

 

10.08 Leigo Lake Music Festival, Leigo

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Leigo Lake Music Festival will feature the unique music and ballet performance “AJU,” created by neuroscientist Jaan Aru, author Tõnu Õnnepalu, composers Timo Steiner and Sander Mölder, and choreographer Teet Kask. This special production explores the mysteries of the human brain with performances by renowned artists like Legowelt (NL) and The Horn Collective. The festival, known for its spectacular water and fire shows, promises an even more captivating and powerful experience this year around.

 

11.08 Ice Cream Party, Song Festival Grounds, Tallinn

Tallinn Song Festival Grounds will host Estonia’s largest ice cream party, featuring a vast selection of ice creams from nearly 15 local and international producers. The event will offer a full day of family-friendly fun, including dance and theatrical performances, a Sky Tivoli amusement park with over 15 rides, a remote-control car parade, and a petting zoo. There will be a variety of activities for children, including games, competitions, and raffles.
