Literature lovers descend on Tallinn for the”HeadRead” festival

The 7-day long Estonian Literature Festival “HeadRead”, which translates into English as “GoodRead”, will take place in various venues across Tallinn during the next week (May 29-June 2). The festival offers literature enthusiasts a varied programme including meetings, conversations, music, theatre and literary walks from more than 30 international and local authors.

The festival will kick off with a poetic bang tomorrow evening (May 29), with the Sõprus Cinema in Tallinn’s old town playing host to the premiere of Vladimir Loginov’s experimental film on the poetry of Sveta Grigorjeva. The opening day’s events, however, will have a focus on the young, with performances from the graduating class of the Theatre School of the Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium (VHK),  as well as conversations at the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre, including with internationally respected Estonian author Leelo Tungal.

Foreign guests to the week-long festival include British historian, author and TV presenter Lucy Worsley, Sami author Tina Marnesk, and French contemporary youth theatre author Nathalie Papin.

You can find out more about the festival and its full programme on the official “HeadRead” website here
