A huge stork’s nest has appeared at the top of an old mast in Noblessner in Tallinn. The light installation was designed by a 5-year-old who was asked what could be done with an old metal mast. The young girl named Stina put her idea on paper in just 5 minutes, reports ERR news.
“We really liked the fact that storks use the same nest site for several years. This includes recycled materials, which is why we used scraps from Merko’s own construction sites as materials. A stork’s nest in general is very symbolic for Estonians”, described Kristel Linnutaja, the installation’s creative director, to ERR.
The installation was realised by the artist Sandra Ernits. In her opinion, there could be more art like this in urban environments.
“I’m glad that there is something old still there, and if a new function can be found for it, then all the better,” shared Ernits.
