Classical sounds in Kadriorg Palace

Lossimuusika (Palace Music in English) is a Sunday concert series where the public is treated to wonderful classical music. This Sunday, January 14, Kadriorg Palace will play host to a concert from Estonian countertenor Martin Karu.

Kadriorg Palace, which houses one of the most beautiful and historic concert halls in Estonia, will host the next concert in the Lossimuusika series. On Sunday at 6 pm, guests will be treated to a concert featuring the talented young countertenor Martin Karu, who began his music studies at the Georg Ots Music School in Tallinn and continued his vocal studies under the guidance of countertenor Andrew Watts at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

His repertoire includes songs from the Renaissance to new music. Among the most recent are Bach’s Matthew Passion and Johannes Passion and Handel’s Messiah and Jephthah. Martin Karu made his debut in Handel’s Julius Caesar in the title role in Tartu in 2023.

Sunday’s concert will feature Downland, Purcell, Handel, and Vivaldi. Karu will be accompanied by Ensemble Floridante. Saale Fischer will play the harpsichord and Villu Vihermäe the viola da gamba.

Tickets for the evening concert at 6 pm can be bought at Piletikeskus.
