The beautiful Niguliste Church in Tallinn’s old town will play host to the 36th International Niguliste Organ Week, which will run this year from January 1 to 7. The series of concerts will also be accompanied by an audience programme.
Since its inception in 1987, Niguliste Church has been at the heart of Estonian organ music, evolving into an international festival under the leadership of Professor Andres Uibo.
Throughout the week, the program features international talents such as French organist Edouard Oganessian, the baroque ensemble LaBande, and Hungarian organist Levente Kuzma, offering a rich repertoire from Liszt to Beethoven and Mozart.
Friday’s concert brings a unique twist with a face-off between Bach and Marchand, skillfully performed by Harry Liivrand, Toomas Trass, and Edouard Oganessian. The grand finale on Sunday, January 7, showcases a rare treat – five organ pieces by Beethoven and six church sonatas by Mozart, masterfully presented by organists Levente Kuzma, Aivars Kalējs, Kadri Toomoja, and Andres Uibo, accompanied by a chamber orchestra.
In addition to the concerts, between January 2 and 7, it is also possible to visit the organ balcony together with Andres Uibo, as well as listen to short half-hours of music daily at 4 pm.
More information about the concerts is available here, and tickets are available at Piletilevi.
