An exhibition by photographer Cho Gi-Seok’s has opened at Fotografiska in Tallinn

A new exhibition entitled “Coexistence” by South Korean artist Cho Gi-Seok is now on display at Fotografiska in Tallinn. Cho Gi-Seok is one of the most famous fashion photographers in Asia today.

Through his imaginative works, Cho Gi-Seok searches for beauty. The photographer loves to combine the human body with the beautiful parts of plants.

His photographs are characterised by strong compositions, in which the whole, from light to colours, have been carefully considered.

Cho Gi-Seok was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1992. At first, he photographed his friends and flowers in Seoul, but gradually moved into fashion photography, also creating his own fashion brand called KUSIKOHC in 2016.

As a fashion photographer, Gi-Seok has collaborated with Vogue Korea, Elle Korea, Esquire Korea and brands such as Prada, Nike, Adidas and Cartier.

“Coexistence” is Cho Gi-Seok’s first major exhibition and will showcase his work from 2018 to 2020. The photos exude delicate harmony, purity, beauty, symbolism and a refined atmosphere.

One word that Gi-Seok often returns to in his work is coexistence. In his opinion, everything is meant to live together: stones, trees, animals, spaces, machines and people.

Whether it is a portrait of a person or a picture of a flower, Cho Gi-Seok’s photographs reflect the complexity of life and its ambiguity.
