Near Otepää in Southern Estonia you’ll find a lake called Leigo, where there are two stages built right on the water. Each year this is where visitors attend the Leigo Lake Music festival, and this year’s event will take place from 30 July to 1 August. Local and international musicians will perform a number of concerts against the gorgeous backdrop of the lake and surrounding hills, and the fire and light installations throughout the area…and on the lake itself!
On the opening day of the festival there will be guided hikes in the late evening on a trail approximately three kilometers in length. Attendees will be able to experience the various light installations close up along their hike. This is a unique experience known in English as the “Sound Forest Trail”, and it is being introduced for the first time this year as an integral part of the festival. Along the way you will be able to experience how art, music, and nature coexist. It’s worth noting that the immediate area features a chain of 13 lakes to explore.
The following day of the festival is when the concerts begin. The Leigo Lake Music Festival largely focuses on classical music, but there will also be other genres, such as folk. Artists performing on 31 July and 1 August include Maarja Nuut, Kadri Voorand, Ott Lepland, two artists from Iceland, and many others.
