Apple Season
Harvest season has begun, but what I personally notice many of is apples. Coming into the office in September, everyone has a bowl of apples on their table that they’ve brought from their back yards, summer homes, or family farms. By the time November rolls around, it’s fair to say we’ve all had our fill of apples. Apple pie, apple sauce, apple juice, and apple cider fill the market stalls around the country.
It doesn’t stop at apples. This time of year is great for visiting markets and attending food festivals in some of Estonia’s smaller cities and towns, especially is you’re a food-lover like me. Check out some of the many events taking place at the Viimsi Museum of Coastal Folk, like Meat Day (Lihapäev) on September 5, where you can enjoy not only meat, but a buffet prepared by the top food bloggers of Estonia. On September 26, come for Ubinapäev, where you will certainly get your fill of apples with the many apple related events taking place, like apple juice making and apple grilling.
No matter what your interests, you are sure to find something in these pages. Read about new restaurants in Tallinn, where to stay active in Tallinn, and venture out of Estonia’s capital and visit the island of Hiiumaa for a beautiful getaway.
Bon appetit and happy travels!
