This summer, Tallink served the highest number of passengers since 2019

Tallink’s ships carried 1,893,603 passengers in the third quarter of 2022, i.e. in July, August and September.

This number is 65.5 per cent more than the previous year (1,144,092 passengers in the third quarter of 2021). There was also an increase compared to the third quarter of 2020 (1,314,301 passengers).

In the third quarter of 2022, the number of transported vehicles also increased by 21 per cent compared to the same period last year.

“I am happy to report positive growth in the most important quarter of the whole year. The numbers are still not comparable to the time before the pandemic started, but they are good numbers considering the ongoing crises and the world situation,” said Tallink Group CEO Paavo Nõgene.

The largest increase in the number of passengers occurred on the Finland-Sweden routes, where the number of passengers increased in the third quarter by 82.2 per cent compared to the same period last year. The number of passengers also increased significantly on the Finland-Estonia route, where the number of passengers increased by 61.7 per cent.

“We have taken measures to secure our business outside of the high season. We have made several lease agreements for our ships and unfortunately also had to raise our prices. With these measures, we are trying to secure the future of our ships and the fact that we will be able to offer different services to our customers even when our ships return to the Baltic Sea,” said Nõgene.

The Tallink Group has a total of 15 vessels and operates under the Tallink and Silja Line brands on several routes. Tallink Group employs approximately 4,000 people in Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Latvia and Germany.
