The Exploited Live in Helitehas

Formed in Edinburgh in 1978, The Exploited have been at the top of the global punk scene for over four decades. One of the key bands of the UK82 movement, The Exploited shaped the sound and punk attitude not only of early 80s British punk, but thrash and other underground forms of metal. With socially conscious lyrics, the band’s slogan, “Punk’s Not Dead” has more relevance today perhaps than it did in 1982.

The band’s live performances are definitely something to experience if you haven’t already. The speed and raw nature of the drums and guitar riffs ignite audiences into a fiery uproar. Wattie Buchan, the band’s founder and vocalist, has remained the only constant member over all the years.

Notable albums by The Exploited are “Punks Not Dead” from 1981, “Troops of Tomorrow” from 1982, and “Let’s Start a War” from 1983, although all eight of their studio albums have been instant classics in punk. Early influences for the band were the Sex Pistols, as well as Johnny Moped, and Buchan himself has expressed admiration for artists such as James Brown, and The Cure.

Originally booked to play in Paavli, quick ticket sales clearly demanded a larger venue be found for the same date, 2 February, and the concert will now take place in Tallinn’s renowned Helitehas, near the Kristiine shopping centre. Estonian bands Skoone, and Huiabella Fantastica will open the show at 19:00. Tickets are still available here.
