Exciting events in Estonia this week

9–31 May Kirna Tulip Festival, Kirna

Kirna Manor is located halfway between Türi and Paide, seven kilometres from each town. Its gardens once again bloom with nearly 100,000 tulips planted by variety and colour, alongside daffodils and other early flowers. Musical performances, a café, and art and floral arrangement exhibitions inside the manor house complete the visitor experience.

 

11–16 May Prima Vista Literary Festival, Tartu

Visitors to this international literary event can meet writers from different countries, take part in guided thematic walks and film screenings, and browse or purchase new and second-hand books at the Town Hall Square book market.

 

15–17 May Tallink Floorball Tournament, Tallinn

Held at the Exhibition Centre on Pirita Road, the Tallinn tournament is one of the largest in the Baltic countries. Girls’ and boys’ teams born between 2007 and 2015 participate from eight European countries. Separate youth, men’s and women’s tournaments will also take place later in May and June.

 

15–17 May Rattafest, Setomaa

This three-day cycling and outdoor festival follows a route divided into stages across 130 kilometres of Setomaa’s cultural landscapes. Evenings at the campsites feature concerts, workshops, and communal camp life for participants.

 

15–17 May Tallinn Day and Kalamaja Days, Tallinn

The capital celebrates its 778th anniversary with concerts and public festivities. Meanwhile, the wooden-house district of Kalamaja, just north of the Old Town, hosts a more community-oriented weekend with street musicians, charming courtyard cafés, and flea markets attracting visitors from across the city.

 

15–17 May Türi Flower Fair, Türi

For the 47th time, nearly 40,000 gardening enthusiasts and 700 vendors gather in Estonia’s “spring capital.” Visitors can shop for plants, gardening equipment, tools, food, and countless other market goods while enjoying entertainment programmes.

 

15–31 May CHI Pärnu Equestrian Competitions, Pärnu

Across three weekends at Maria Farm, dressage, show-jumping, and carriage-driving riders from different countries compete against one another. The dressage competition forms part of the World Cup series, while show-jumpers pursue international ranking points. Admission for spectators is free, and cafés serve food and refreshments.

 

16 May Opening of Motorcycle Season, Pärnu

Thousands of motorcyclists gather for this festival event on Supeluse Street in Pärnu. Alongside entertainment programmes, visitors can see new motorcycles, riding gear, and accessories. A grand parade ride through the city leads into the evening Motoparty, where Terminaator performs and music continues late into the night.

 

16 May Hiiumaa Spring Market, Käina

A lively market day takes place from 9:00 to 14:00 in the southern central settlement of the island, in the yard next to the Tuuletorn shopping area. Visitors can buy local delicacies, handicrafts, and everything needed for the garden. Dance performances and prize draws entertain adults, while a bouncy castle keeps children amused.

 

16–17 May Maijooks Women’s Run, Tallinn

More than 300,000 women have participated in this fitness event over the years. Participants may run or walk and choose between 7 km and 21 km distances, or take part in a relay half-marathon in three-woman teams. A spring concert and “men’s parking area” provide additional entertainment.
