John Legend to Perform in Tartu

Imagine a performer so talented that he has won the rare combination of the “EGOT”, meaning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award. John Legend is one such person, and in fact only 22 people in history have accomplished this, two of whom are Elton John and Mel Brooks. The—ahem!—legendary singer, composer, and pianist will bring his tour titled “An Evening of Songs & Stories” to Tartu’s historic Song Festival Grounds on 8 July this year.

John Legend, who was born John Roger Stephens, began his career providing backing vocals for Jay-Z, and Alicia Keys, and accompanying Lauryn Hill on piano. His major breakthrough came with the 2004 release of his album “Get Lifted”, which contained the now classic hit “Ordinary People”. His music usually features elements of soul, R&B, and pop.

He has also made several appearances in films, on television, and on Broadway, which is how he attained his rare EGOT status. Audiences of his 2026 tour can expect to hear a lot of the stories behind his milestones during the concert.

Legend, originally from Springfield, Ohio, is married to supermodel Chrissy Teigen. The couple have four children.

Other major stars performing in Tartu’s Song Festival Grounds this summer are ZZ Top, and Moby.

Tickets and more information are available here.
