Tallinn Vegan Fair 2025

There is no doubt that the popularity of vegan food, and the vegan lifestyle in general, is on the rise around the world. The Tallinn Vegan Fair returns for the 15th time to showcase new innovations in vegan food, new products, and vegan restaurants. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover what vegan food has to offer.

First off, let’s discuss the concept, or reputation of vegan food. To most people who are not vegans, or even vegetarians, vegan food has a rather negative reputation. This writer, too, once shared the same view. But then one day, this writer, who still eats meat and other animal products on a daily basis, tried some vegan food, and was shocked at how good it was. This writer especially liked vegan “cheese” cake.

The lesson to take from this is not to disparage vegan food, or think that it is lacking something simply because it does not use animal products. Instead, try to think of vegan food as vegan “cuisine”, the same way you would think of Mexican cuisine, French cuisine, or even Finnish “cuisine”.* It’s simply a different way of preparing delicious food, and if you have not tried it before, the Tallinn Vegan Fair is your chance.

*This writer has yet to try Finnish cuisine, so attempted to make a joke here.

If this writer has somehow got you interested in trying vegan food, but you are unable to attend the Tallinn Vegan Fair, you could still visit the vegan restaurant called V in the Old Town, and enjoy a fairly-priced, and amazingly delicious three-course meal. Another of this writer’s favourites is Rohe, next to the train station. All their meals are great, but their pastries are of particular note.

The official Estonian name of the Tallinn Vegan Fair 2025 is “Vegan Mess”, which is slightly hilarious if you look at it in English. But rest assured that there will be several very educational and interesting talks, as well as several foods and products that visitors can sample and enjoy. If you have never tried vegan food—and I don’t mean Indian cuisine without meat, but actual vegan cuisine—you will be positively surprised at how good it can really be.

Tallinn Vegan Fair 2025 will take place in Tallinn’s Kultuurikatel, or Creative Hub on 18–19 October. More information about this event is available here.
