“Which Festival?” Õllesummer

Our next installment in the “Which Festival?” series is Õllesummer, or Beer Summer, a festival dating all the way back to 1990, but which took a hiatus after 2018, returning last year, and again this year. This massive beer and music festival annually features the biggest names in Estonia, as well as several foreign artists.

A grand total of eight stages will have concerts beginning in the afternoon until the wee hours of the morning for four days in a row. One of the stages, the Lenne Stage, is more geared toward dancing, and even offers some dance workshops. The other stages however are a bit unfortunate, because so many amazing artists will be playing simultaneously, and it’s simply not possible to see them all. Tough choices face festival-goers.

Estonian artists will be represented by some nostalgic favourites, such as Vanilla Ninja, A-Rühm, Röövel Ööbik, Kosmikud, Ines, Terminaator, and Singer Vinger, as well as today’s most popular artists. Among the latter are of course Tommy Cash, Bedwetters, Puuluup, Ivo Linna, 5MIINUST, and no Estonian music festival would be complete without Curly Strings. The final day of the festival will feature Londonbeat, and DJ Sash.

Tickets are available here, and it is advisable to reach the Song Festival Grounds by public transport or on foot, an approximately 40-minute seaside walk from the Old Town. Food and beverage are available on-site, and more information is available here in Estonian regarding what you can and cannot bring with you. If you do drive, make sure you have a designated driver, and enjoy Õllesummer!
