Tartuff Open-Air Film Festival in Võru

PÖFF’s romance-themed film festival, Tartuff, is moving beyond Tartu this summer for the first time ever. On 31 July, Võru’s town hall square will transform into an open-air cinema for one evening, where the New Zealand thriller “Forgive Us All” will be screened. The event is part of Tartuff’s 20th anniversary celebrations, and is free of charge. Since seating is limited, viewers are encouraged to bring their own chairs—or even a sofa.

“We want to share the Tartuff atmosphere with a broader audience, and Võru is a perfect opportunity for that,” says festival director Johan Kudu.

Directed by Jordana Stott, “Forgive Us All” transports viewers to a post-apocalyptic world where a virus has turned humans into the living dead. The story follows a woman who, in her remote mountain cabin, encounters a mysterious refugee, and is forced to make a difficult decision. The film blends adventure, horror, and nature cinematography—but above all, it is about love.

The main Tartuff Festival will take place 4–9 August on Tartu’s Town Hall Square, and in Elektriteater. All screenings are free of charge. The festival is organised by the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in cooperation with the City of Tartu, and Elisa.
