“Which Festival?” Võnge 2025Laryssa Kim

Every year the Võnge Festival takes place in a new location, always somewhere that is more than capable of hosting such an event, yet still in the middle of Estonia’s largely untouched natural environment. This year’s Võnge 2025 will take place at the Viscosa Culture Centre in Kõrgessaare on the northwestern shores of Estonia’s northwestern island of Hiiumaa. Four days packed with concerts, DJs, and other entertainment await festival-goers.

The venue for this year’s event is especially attractive, not only due to the historical Kõrgessaare Manor Park adjoining the venue, but also due to the close proximity to the Baltic Sea. Yes, it’s already on an island, but the actual coast is just a brief walk, so attendees can enjoy a beautiful Baltic sunset, and sunrise!

The first day of the festival starts at 19:00, but the programmes for the following three days all start in the early afternoon. All nights but the last continue until around 4 in the morning with live DJ sets. Headlining bands include Tähetella, Una Bomba, Laryssa Kim of Belgium, and Meisterjaan. Each day features from five to nine live musical artists. During the days and evenings there are also extensive activity programmes for children, so this is a family-friendly event.

Hiiumaa itself is full of natural spectacles and architectural wonders to explore. Lighthouses adorn the western coastal areas, Kärdla—the largest village on the island—is well known for its selection of cafés, and there is also the lesser known Eiffel Tower “replica”, which really is just a very unique and fun viewing platform from the top of which the entire island is visible, along with its equally one-of-a-kind adventure course, very popular among children.

Access to Hiiumaa is by ferry only, and of course you can drive onto these ferries. Schedules are available here. Tickets to Võnge Festival itself are available here, in the form of day passes or full event passes.
