Haapsalu will be filled with music and culture for three days

The White Nights Festival in Haapsalu will be held this year from 27 to 29 June. The festival will begin on Thursday, 27 June at the Evald Okanen Museum, where violinist Triinu Piirsalu and guitarist Harald Trass will perform. In the evening, the music of Olav Ehala will be performed in the Haapsalu Castle courtyard by the Kadri Vooranna Quartet and the Estonian National Male Choir. The composer himself will also take to the stage.

The late-night concert Küte will be held at Haapsalu Railway Station at 23:00, when cellist Theodor Sink, mandolinist Villu Talsi, bassist Peedu Kass, and violinist and singer Simone Minn will perform their own works as well as compositions by John Eccles and Thomas Tallinen.

On Saturday, 28 June, a guided tour in Estonian led by Anton Pärna will be organised for those interested in the history of Haapsalu. The tour starts at 10:00. Did you know, for example, that the famous composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky once stayed in the spa town?

On Saturday evening at 18:00, the music of Pärt Uusberg will be performed in Haapsalu Cathedral. The music is by the poet Ernst Enno. The Head Ööd, Vend! choir will be conducted by the composer Uusberg himself.

That same evening, at 20:00, the Summer Symphony will be performed in the castle courtyard, featuring mezzo-soprano Sandra Laagus, violinist Triin Ruubel, and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra conducted by Kristiina Poska. The programme will include music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Veljo Torminen, Eduard Tubina, and Tõnu Kõrvitsa.

The evening does not end with this concert, as classical melodies will be heard in the concert starting at 23:00. Estonia’s top violinist and young talent Hans Christian Aavik will take the stage with other young, up-and-coming musicians to play Franz Schubert.

On Saturday, 29 June, the Curly Strings ensemble will close the festival with a concert for the whole family. Before and after the concert, there will be a painting workshop for children.

Tickets for the festival can be purchased from Piletilevi.
