The Sõltumatu Dance Festival, which translates as the Independent Dance Festival is currently underway in Tallinn. The inaugural festival that will take place until this Saturday (October 5), aims to unite diverse dance communities and generations.
The program of the festival highlights the richness of contemporary dance, featuring performances from both internationally acclaimed and emerging choreographers. By introducing new aesthetics and formats, the festival encourages innovation while maintaining a focus on critical social issues. This year, topics such as burnout, beauty standards, ageing, and the importance of reclaiming heritage will be at the forefront of performances and discussions.
The festival also seeks to combine technology with dance, merging tradition with modernity and the familiar with the unfamiliar. Among the many international performers will be Ukrainian dance artists. There will also be many performances by local dancers.
You can get more information about the event, including the full programme of performances and discussions on the official Sõltumatu Dance Festival website.
