Open House comes to Tartu for the first time

This weekend, Tartu will host an Open House event for the very first time. During the weekend, members of the public have the opportunity to explore 30 different buildings around the city for free.

The Open House event, which is part of the main programme of Tartu’s year as the European Capital of Culture in 2024, is suitable for the whole family.

In total, it will be possible to explore 30 buildings around the city including  the A. Le Coq Brewery, Estonian Aviation Academy, the Tartu Observatory, and Supreme Court. Being famous for its university it will also be possible to visit the University of Tartu Library, the Estonian Students’ Society, the National Archives, plus the New and the Old Anatomical Theatre.

“Architecture is an integral part of our culture, and what better way to showcase Estonian architecture than in this year’s European Capital of Culture, Tartu? We want people to be more aware of the architectural values that enrich their urban space – our aim is to draw people’s attention to the stories that different buildings and places tell, both in the overall cityscape and in more specific architecture,” described Aleksander Tali, the producer of Open House Tartu and Tallinn.

You can read more about Open House Tartu on it’s official website.
