Erkki-Sven Tüür’s “Tormiloits” to be the centerpiece of a concertVanemuine Symphony Orchestra

 

The Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra will perform Erkki-Sven Tüür’s “Tormiloits” at two concerts in Estonia this week. The first in Tartu on March 15, and the second in Tallinn on March. 16. As well Tüür’s masterpiece, the orchestra will also perform pieces by Stravinsky and Rautavaara at the concert.

The Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the highly respected Risto Joost, are set to perform two concerts in Estonia this week. Erkki-Sven Tüür’s “Tormiloits” (Incantation of Tempest in English) being the centerpiece of the performances.

As well as “Tormiloits”, the orchestra will play Igor Stravinsky’s suite from the ballet “Petrushka”, which was originally written as a concert piece, and Einojuhani Rautavaara’s colourful percussion concerto “Incantations”.

The originally scheduled concert in Pärnu on March 14 has sadly been cancelled. The concert has been made in cooperation with the Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu.
