In the coming summer, many new traffic arrangements can be expected in Tallinn due to the construction work of the new tram line to the port. ERR writes that the construction works will have the greatest impact to traffic on Ahtri and Mere streets and Põhja boulevard located near the port.
Last year, one direction of Ahtri street was closed for an extended period. Now it’s time to close the other direction. The roadworks between Linnahall and Fat Margaret will significantly slow down traffic to and from the port terminals.
“The second very difficult, perhaps even more difficult point arises in connection with the fact that we need to connect the harbour tram to the tram network going to Põhja-Tallinn, which means that there will be quite a lot of construction work going on there at Fat Margaret,” explained Vladimir Svet, Tallinn Deputy Mayor to ERR.
The city of Tallinn will publish this year’s full construction plan at the end of February 2024.
