Tartu Food and Wine Festival

Taking place during the Tartu Buzz Festival this year, the Tartu Food and Wine Festival brings local and international cuisine and wine to the heart of the city for two days of culinary delight. Food, beverage, and great music will be available to all in the area around Küüni St in Tartu, next to the Kaubamaja Department Store.

There will be a street food zone with several food trucks and other vendors, including Estonian and international foods. Entrance is free for all. Entrance to the wine area is also free, and you can bring your own wine glass, or purchase one on site for €3. This glass however is not part of a deposit-based system.

The wine portion of the festival will consist of several tastings as well as workshops, with tickets to individual events available here. For those who want a more in-depth experience and who happen to be in Tartu before the festival begins, there are a few connected side events. On 4 August there will be a trip to a vineyard and a dairy, 5 August will see a special screening of a wine documentary titled “Sour Grapes” in a local cinema, and 6 August will have a cheese and wine masterclass hosted by Estonia’s top sommelier, Kristjan Markii.

There will also be a few haute cuisine dinners during and immediately before the festival. Information is available under “Special Dinners” on the Tartu Food and Wine Festival’s main page. The social media event page is here.
