Tank up, and then off to Tallinn

DiscoverCars.com ranked Europe’s top destinations for car travellers in the spring. The ranking was based on a number of factors, including the cost of car rentals and hotel accommodations, as well as attractions.
Although all European capitals were included in the study, it’s surprising that some of the most well-known destinations didn’t make the top 20. For example, Paris and Madrid fell out of the top 20. This is because the study focused on affordability: cities where hotel stays were cheaper ranked higher.
Cities were ranked based on the following criteria: the cost of a car rental for four days, and the cost of a hotel stay for the same period. In addition, five popular attractions in each city were examined, and their distance from the airport and their admission fees for adults and children were compared. Based on this information, each city was given an overall score, which was used to determine the final ranking.
The top five capital cities were Sofia (Bulgaria) with 170 points, Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with 163 points, Bucharest (Romania) with 159 points, Zagreb (Croatia) with 156 points, and Belgrade (Serbia) with 153 points.
The Estonian capital, Tallinn, came in sixth place. It was followed by Vilnius (Lithuania) and Podgorica (Montenegro) in a joint seventh place. Nicosia (Cyprus) came in eighth, and Valletta (Malta) in ninth. Riga (Latvia) and Bratislava (Slovakia) shared tenth place.
