Exciting events in Estonia this week

30 March–2 April Singer Vinger 40, Tartu and Tallinn

Two evenings of Estonian punk and rock nostalgia at the anniversary concerts of an iconic band. Plenty of guest performers will join, and the afterparty DJ will be none other than the rebellious and outspoken former Minister of Culture, Rein Lang.

1 April April Fool’s Day, across Estonia

April Fool’s Day was rescheduled for three days earlier this year, so on Wednesday you can let your guard down.

2–3 April Via Crucis choral work, Tallinn and Tartu

A deeply atmospheric musical work by composer Franz Liszt depicting the final events of Jesus’s life, performed by the mixed choir HUIK! and enhanced with video visuals. The choir and guest baritone soloist from the Estonian National Opera are accompanied on a harmonium by Ulla Krigul, organist of the Finnish congregation in Tallinn.

2 April–17 May Finno-Ugric Landscape, Tartu

An art exhibition by the Finnish–Estonian artist duo Satu Kalliokuusi and Ahti Meier, exploring themes of folklore, the relationship between humans and nature, and the landscapes of Tartu and its surroundings.

3 April Easter Market in Põhara, Pärnu

The city of Pärnu stretches far into the countryside, and this market on its north-western edge—20 km away in the village of Põhara—always attracts plenty of vendors and visitors. There’s a carousel and a petting zoo for children, refreshments for everyone, and it’s best to bring cash for purchases.

3–5 April Roxette UK tour, Tallinn, Jõhvi, Tartu

A tribute band honouring the beloved Swedish duo performs a full set of hits across three concerts in Estonia, with choruses that most of the audience will undoubtedly know by heart.

4 April Valga Spring Market, Valga

Held from 10:00 to 15:00 on Valga’s central square, the market offers handicrafts, food products, household goods, and farm produce from across Southern Estonia.

4 April Industrial Festival 26, Tallinn

The ominously named The Krypt Spooky music club hosts a mini-festival of dark and heavy drum & bass, industrial and techno metal, featuring six bands from across Europe. Also appearing is TeknoHirvi from Finland.

4–5 April Handbell and organ music, Tapa, Keila, Tallinn

The Arsis handbell ensemble and organist Kristel Aer perform works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Chopin in three atmospheric churches in the spirit of Easter.

5 April Collectors’ flea market, Tartu

Whatever you collect—stamps, coins, old photographs, medals and badges, prepaid SIM cards, war memorabilia or art—this flea market for buyers and sellers may prove addictive. Held at Hansa School from 9:00 to 13:00, with a symbolic €1 entrance fee.

5 April Easter at the Open Air Museum, Tallinn

A family-friendly event where Easter traditions from different eras are presented in their authentic settings across the museum grounds. Enjoy traditional treats and complete an orienteering challenge to earn a prize.
