airBaltic recognised as one of the world’s safest airlines

airBaltic, the largest airline in the Baltic region, has announced its debut inclusion in the global list of the world’s safest airlines, compiled by Airline Ratings, a leading expert in aviation news, passenger ratings, and safety. Based on this assessment, airBaltic now ranks among the top 50 safest airlines globally.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, commented: “Safety has always been and will remain airBaltic’s top priority. The tireless work of our teams is focused on ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for both our crew and passengers. This world-class recognition highlights our commitment to excellence, and we are truly grateful to the Airline Ratings team for selecting airBaltic as one of the safest airlines for 2025.”

Sharon Petersen, CEO of Airline Ratings, noted: “airBaltic operates a modern fleet of A220-300 aircraft, with an average age of just 4.4 years. Their incident rate per flight in the past two years has been extremely low, and the number of serious incidents is zero. airBaltic also operates safely in challenging winter conditions, where heavy snow is often a significant factor to consider.”

The Airline Ratings ranking takes into account several criteria, including the age and size of the aircraft fleet, the experience and training of pilots, incident rates, and many other factors. A full list of the highlighted airlines can be found on their website.

airBaltic serves over 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
