Soprano Marion Melnik, who has performed in Finland, is bringing the Christmas spirit to St. Michael’s Church in Tallinn. This Estonian soprano, who has placed among the top competitors in international singing competitions in Vienna and Lappeenranta, and has frequently performed as a soloist with the Finnish National Opera, at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, and with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, will give a concert in Tallinn on Thursday, 11 December in St. Michael’s Church on Rüütli Street in the Old Town. The festive sounds of W.A. Mozart’s “Exsultate, jubilate” will ring out from 19:00 onwards alongside Christmas songs.
Melnik’s interpretations of Mozart’s three-part sacred motet and some of the most beautiful Christmas songs from around the world will be accompanied by organist Maris Tammsalu. The organist, who has performed both in Estonia and abroad, currently works as a church musician in two Tallinn churches.

St. Michael’s Church is a Lutheran church in Tallinn’s Old Town, owned by a Swedish congregation and located near Freedom Square and the St Nicholas Church and Museum. Originally built as a poorhouse, the building was converted into a church in 1631, and after the Soviet occupation it was restored for religious use in 2002. The Finnish congregation in Tallinn rents space in the church, holding services and other events there.
