Finnish Hits, Croquet, and a Cosmic Cowboyz Concert—SSS-Radio’s Summer Event at Hiiu Pub

SSS-Radio’s traditional feel-good event will once again bring Finns and Estonians together on 6 September in Tallinn. The venue is the cosy Hiiu Pub. The event has been held for many years—originally without radio involvement, but now supported by the station.

Each year has its own theme, and this year it’s “Finnhits”—a mix of nostalgic Finnish favourites and Estonian hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, along with some newer material. The night will end with a performance by the band Cosmic Cowboyz.

The day kicks off at 15:30 with a lighthearted croquet tournament, accompanied by themed music. The evening reaches its peak at 22:00 when Cosmic Cowboyz take the stage.

The band is fronted by well-known Estonian rock vocalist Freddy Tomingas, with guitarist Martin Jürman—formerly of the Estonian band Smilers—handling compositions and lyrics. Finnish drummer Jari Backlund rounds out the trio.

An Internationally Loved Annual Gathering

Over the years, attendance at the event has ranged from 30 to nearly 800 people. The largest celebration took place on the island of Muhu, drawing almost 800 guests.

“This is a joint Finnish–Estonian event built around music, games, and togetherness. But participants also come from other countries. This year, we expect a record turnout,” says SSS-Radio’s Tapio Reini.

Hiiu Pub is located in the Nõmme residential district of Tallinn, easily accessible by train. The station is right next to the pub.
