French chansons enchant audiences in Tallinn

This year marks the 110th birthday of France’s most famous chanson singer, Edith Piaf. The singer’s story comes to life as a musical theatre performance on the stage of the Alexela Concert Hall on Thursday, 20 March. Piaf! The Show weaves together the eventful life of the beloved singer, and her famous songs.

The show has enchanted audiences around the world. It has been performed over a thousand times in 50 countries, and has already attracted over a million viewers. Director Gil Marsalla has managed to create one of the most successful French-language musical theatre productions. Nathalie Lermitte shines in the title role, successfully capturing the essence and soul of Piaf, the street urchin and little “sparrow”. “Lermitte doesn’t just imitate Piaf, she becomes Piaf,” the late French actor Alain Delon wrote in Le Parisien.

Edith Piaf rises from poverty to fame, from the streets of Montmartre to the stage of the Olympia, and her immortal voice and soulful interpretation continue to reach audiences around the world. On stage, Piaf’s most famous songs are heard, such as “La Vie en Rose”, “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”, “Hymne à l’Amour”, “Padam Padam”, and many more.

Tickets for the musical Piaf! The Show can be purchased from Piletilevi here.
