Arvo Pärt 90 Concert This Weekend

In honour of the 90th birthday later this year of Arvo Pärt, perhaps the most celebrated living composer in the world, two concerts will be held this weekend. Conducted by Jaan-Eik Tulve, and featuring Vox Clamantis and the Kolm Lindu chamber choir, the concerts will be held in Tallinn’s Niguliste Church on Saturday, 8 March (tickets for this event are sold out), and Tartu’s Pauluse Church on Sunday, 9 March (tickets for this event are still available).

Arvo Pärt, born in 1935 in the small town of Päide, Estonia, began his illustrious career by composing film and stage scores. In the 1970s, as a result of Soviet-era censorship, he re-created his own personal style of composition, known as tintinnabuli. His works Für Alina and Spiegel im Spiegel catapulted him to global fame in the world of classical music.

Pärt has enjoyed a long-standing professional relationship and personal friendship with the conductor of this weekend’s concerts, Jaan-Eik Tulve, and Vox Clamantis. They have been performing Pärt’s works worldwide since 1999. Sunday’s programme in Tartu will consist of a mix of Pärt’s most influential works over the years.

The last tickets are available at Fienta, Piletikeskus, Piletimaailm, and Piletilevi, and range in price from €35 to €125, depending on your seating selection.
