International School of Tallinn opens in Ülemiste

The newly completed Education Quarter in Ülemiste City has welcomed its first major tenant—the International School of Tallinn. The school and community building, named after renowned Estonian curriculum theorist Hilda Taba, is set to become a hub for international education in Estonia.

“Smart cities make for, and are made by, smart people,” said Kadi Pärnits, Chairman of the Board at Ülemiste City developer Mainor AS. “Supportive, people-friendly environments hone local talent to become the absolute best they can be, and that’s what this school and community building will do.”

The school, founded in 2017, offers International Baccalaureate (IB) education to around 300 students from over 60 countries. “Everyone who runs a school dreams of having a spacious new building like this,” said Director Olavi Otepalu.

The 11.5 million euro development was designed by 3+1 Arhitektid and financed by OP Corporate Bank, with modernisation input from the University of Tartu’s Move Lab.
