Finno-Ugrian Days to be celebrated around Estonia

This year’s Finno-Ugrian Days will take place from October 11 to 20 at various venues in Tallinn, Tartu, Narva and Jõhvi. The event, organised by the Fenno-Ugria Foundation, brings together cultural figures, politicians, and musicians from the Finno-Ugric region.

On October 11, the festivities kick off with a community evening at Ingeri Maja in Tartu, followed by a concert featuring Elīna Ose at Philly Joe’s jazz club. Next week, on October 16, visitors can join a Finno-Ugrian Days-inspired dance club at Hopneri Maja in Tallinn, and a literary evening titled “Smugritrall” at the Estonian Writers Union.

Other highlights of the 10-day festival include a presentation of Finnish folk costumes and a concert of traditional music at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre on October 17, and a conference at Jõhvi Concert Hall on October 18.

Finno-Ugrian Days will culminate on October 20, with a classical performance featuring works by Jean Sibelius, performed by pianist Tähe-Lee Liiv.
