Station Narva 2024 kicks off tomorrow

Between September 5 and 8, for the seventh year running, Station Narva will bring together music, art, community and innovative events to Narva.

Station Narva 2024 will take place against the fabulous backdrop of Hermann Castle, with two stages on the grounds of the museum. The main stage in the north courtyard offers breathtaking views of the eastern border of the European Union, while the more intimate Reconditorium chamber hall inside the castle, which has hosted guests since the time of the Livonian Order, offers a unique place to experience music up close. The castle courtyard will also become a lively festival area with cafés and street food vendors, creating a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the festival atmosphere.

Historic Narva

Festival visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibits at night, including an interactive display detailing the castle’s 700-year history. For those who enjoy adventures, late-night access to the gallery will be available along the castle’s walls, with spectacular views of Narva city, Kreenholm and the Russian town of Ivangorod. In addition, the recently renovated west courtyard and walls of the castle, together with the Victoria bastion and several new mini-exhibits, are open for visitors.

Eclectic music programme

The music programme on 6 and 7 September will feature a varied line-up of artists from all over the world. Highlights include the orchestral rock band Spiritualized, Grammy-winning MC and producer Flowdan, contemporary pianist Belle Chen from the UK, Ukrainian folk/electronic ensemble Go_A, and Estonian artists Puuluup, NOËP, Maria Kallastu and the Estonian Electronic Music Society ensemble performing works by Sven Grünberg. Also making their debut in Narva will be the legendary Estonian band Singer Vinger. The festival continues each evening with an afterparty at the Ro-Ro cultural club by the river, where festival-goers can dance until well into the night.

Day of the future and creative discoveries

One of the key events of the festival is Future Day, which will take place on 6 September at the OBJEKT Creative Incubator in Narva. This event invites participants to take part in forward-looking discussions on career development, design and the creative industries, complemented by a workshop on future scenarios in the Ida-Virumaa region. Afterwards, the Rondeel Gallery in Narva Fortress will open a group exhibition “B&W Gold” featuring works by Ida-Viru artists, with DJ Pasha playing.

For those interested in local culture, the festival will offer a sunset excursion to “Narva Venice”, the Kulgu area by the Narva reservoir. This guided bus tour will take visitors to a unique area known for its garage-taša culture, and will include a visit to NART’s ‘Embassy to Venice’, where festival-goers will be able to learn about the lives of the international artists who have stayed and hear stories about the region’s origins.
