A new exhibition opens at the Museum of New Art in Pärnu

The group exhibition “MAN AND WOMAN: SOS – Save Our Souls” has opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Pärnu. The exhibition is inspired by two great tragedies of the last century, which still live strongly in the collective memory.

One of the disasters happened in 1944, when more than 3,000 men, women and children were lost on the ship “Moero”. However, most people remember the second one more vividly. Almost a thousand people were travelling on the ship “Estonia” in September 1994 when it suffered a major malfunction in stormy conditions, sinking in the Baltic Sea. Only 137 people survived.

The exhibition deals with incomprehensible loss, but also the great hope that lives in the loved ones of those who were lost. According to British folk wisdom, hope is reborn every spring.

More than 40 visual artists from around the world have participated in the group exhibition, which will be open from June 2 to September 29 at the Pärnu Museum of New Art (MONA).

You can learn more about the exhibition on the museum’s official website
