Do you want to experience a traditional Estonian Easter? This year, one will be organised at the Estonian Open Air Museum in Tallinn. At the museum, there are houses from different parts of Estonia, where the Easter traditions of different Estonian provinces will be presented.
At Seto Farm, you will find out about the customs and food of Lent. For Peipsi Old Believers in the Russian house, Easter is celebrated two weeks later, but the lady of the house will still tell visitors about the animals that live on the farm.
At Kolga farm you will discover how domestic animals were taken care of in the olden days and how rabbits brought Easter eggs to the children. Join the lady of the farm for guided tours every hour from 11 am to 3 pm. Each tour can accommodate a maximum of 20 people.
In Lau village shop, you can make an Easter card. The Easter card tradition arrived in Estonia a hundred years ago from Europe. You can also send the card to friends and family directly from the shop.
At Kuie school, you can participate in colouring Easter eggs. Everyone has a chance to try their skills. In addition, there will be a competition to choose the most beautiful Easter egg.
You can read more about the event on the official website of the Estonian Open Air Museum here.
