A restaurant where feeling better than when you arrived is the ethos

A restaurant where feeling better than when you arrived is the ethosThere are beautiful views of the forest from the restaurant.

Located in a tranquil forest, next to a beautiful sandy beach, approximately 30 minutes drive from Tallinn, is Laulusmaa Spa. Within it is the Michelin Guide recommended restaurant Wicca.

For Head Chef Angelica Udeküll, the name of the restaurant encapsulates who they are and what they do.

“I love to read books about flowers and nature, and medical herbs. One lovely day I went to a bookshop and opened a book somewhere in the middle, and there was the name Wicca and an explanation – in old England, the ladies who had the knowledge to use flowers and herbs as a medicine – I recognised that is something we do here every day.”

Wicca’s food and drinks menu is packed with locally sourced and sustainable foods, made in traditional ways. The chefs (who, rarely for the industry, are mostly women) will even head off into the forest to pick, berries, mushrooms, flowers and elk moss to use in the dishes.  The Nordic cuisine menu on offer is healthy and balanced. For Sommelier Janika Tuisk it is, “About being well when you return home, and feeling good.”

In this sense, the spa and the hotel are in symbiosis, whether you go to one or both, the goal is for visitors to go home in a better condition than they arrived. Being located just 1.5 km from the Arvo Part centre, it is also a great place to stop after for a delicious dinner before returning to the city.

It is recommended to book around two weeks ahead to avoid disappointment. This is because of Wicca’s location in the hotel and seminar groups, meaning even weekday evenings can be fully booked.

There are also separate a la carte, business lunch, and fixed menu’s for special days such as Mothers Day.
