Viljandi Folk Festival is now offering tent accommodation

 

This year, visitors to the Viljandi Folk Music Festival can stay in a tent without needing to bring their own. However, a tent must be booked no later than July 20.

A ready-made tent, a comfortable mattress and a sleeping bag are waiting at the campsite of Viljandi St Pauls Church for those who wish to camp at the festival. All of the camping equipment is brand new, and you don’t have to unpack/pack the tent yourself.

The camping package costs 75 euros per tent. One tent can accommodate two people. If two people use the tent package from Thursday to Monday, one night for one person costs less than 10 euros.

“With such an offer, we are addressing the concerns of people who are late in booking their accommodation, who are excited to come to the festival but can’t find the energy to manage all the organisational aspects of camping, says Hannele Känd, the festival’s accommodation manager. “We’ll do the work for them. They’ll simply have a romantic or a nostalgic camping experience next to St Paul’s Church gleaming in a moonlit night.”

Camping packages can be reserved until July 20 by e-mailing telkla@folk.ee. The price of the package is 75 euros, regardless of whether one or two people stay in the tent and how many nights you stay in the area.

Those staying overnight who bring their own tents and other camping equipment are also welcome at the campsite located next to St. Paul’s Church. You should also reserve such a place at the campsite in advance.

The campsite opens on Thursday, July 28 at 12 noon and closes on Monday, August 1 at 10 a.m. The campsite is open 24 hours a day, with lights out at 11 p.m.

The Viljandi Waldorf School also offers affordable accommodation for festival guests. You must bring your own sleeping bag, but the school will provide you with a mattress and space in one of its classrooms. The price of accommodation starts at 22 euros per person.

Viljandi Folk, or XXIX Viljandi Folk Music Festival, will be held from July 28 to 31.18 foreign, and more than 40 Estonian musicians and bands will perform at the festival.
