Tallinn’s Medieval Days have begun

Between July 7-10, Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) and the area surrunding St. Nicholas Church in Tallinn’s old town will be transformed into a flourishing medieval city for four days. Among others things, you will be able to buy wears from master craftsmen, attend workshops, listen to live musicians, and watch knights in action.
Raekoja plats was already a marketplace during the golden age of the Hanseatic League. Just as it is the heartbeat of the city today, it was the same back in the medieval period. The market was filled with merchants and craftsmen, and the buildings around the square were filled with shops, wine cellars and more.
During this year’s Medieval Days, a medieval village has been constructed on Niguliste hill. Everyone can participate in the workshops there. In addition, various games requiring skill and strength have been organized, as well as a small knight’s school where swordsmanship and archery are taught.
During the medieval days, you can watch the work of blacksmiths and master builders. Actors and troubadours will entertain audiences, and wise men will share their knowledge.
On Saturday, July 9, from 12 to 4 p.m., a prestigious knight’s tournament will be held.
