Station Narva Festival 2024: Music Line-Up Announced

The Station Narva Festival is gearing up for its seventh edition next week (September 5 to 8). The festival, known for its eclectic mix of performances and cultural events, has just announced its full lineup of international and local musical acts.

Headlining the festival will be the space rock band Spiritualized and grime star Flowdan from the UK. Joining them are Finnish avant-garde artist Pelkkä Poutanen, the collaborative project of Modulshtein and actor MariQ, Narva-based musician Kirill Smirnov’s project ODIN, and Alika, who will appear as a special guest with NOËP. The post-festival afterparties at Ro-Ro Club will feature performances from acts such as Buzhold, mariin k., Tabloited, and the dance-pop duo MEGAMEGA Superstar.

The festival will run from September 5 to 8 this year. However, the main music programme will take place on Friday and Saturday  (September 6 and 7), at Narva Museum and the cultural club Ro-Ro.

Narva Castle Museum’s programme on Saturday will include Pelkkä Poutanen, who will showcase a vocal performance drawing from Finno-Ugric traditions to throat singing. Joining the line-up is ODIN, the project by Narva native Kirill Smirnov, who will perform a tech-house set based on rare recordings from different cultures around the world. Special guest Alika will perform alongside NOËP on the main stage.

In the Refectorium Piano Hall, the electronic music creator Modulshtein will team up with singer and actor MariQ in a collaborative performance dedicated to the Russian absurdist writers Daniil Kharms and Alexander Vvedensky, founders of the underground group OBERIU. This performance is part of a larger production that will premiere in September at the Russian Theatre of Estonia.

Both nights of the festival will conclude with lively after-parties at the riverside cultural club Ro-Ro, featuring a range of music from punk to drum and bass. Friday night will see performances from MEGAMEGA Superstar and punk rock band Tabloited, who will also feature a guest vocalist from Narva. Local DJs from the Surf to the Beat collective will entertain guests with a mix of dance, indie, and techno beats in the outdoor pavilion.

The final night of the music festival will bring young noise rock heroes to Ro-Ro’s upper floor, including the dream-pop supergroup mariin k., led by guitarist Mariin Kallikorm, and the grunge and shoegaze quartet Buzhold. The outdoor pavilion will feature performances from the Narva-Jõesuu rap group SizeoptimaL, drum and bass DJ and producer Sound in Noise, and music selectors from the Station Narva team.

In addition to the evening music programme, the medieval walls of Hermann Castle will host a cinema room screening films scored by Sven Grünberg and the documentary “NOËP: The First Stadium.” Festival guests will also have access to the museum’s exhibitions.

Alongside the music programme on Friday and Saturday, the festival will feature four days of free daytime city concerts.

Other events as part of the festival include a public discussion on security at the local opinion day BAZAR, a future day focusing on creative industry trends and youth employment at the creative incubator OBJEKT, art exhibitions at Narva Art Residency, guided tours of the city and “Narva Venice,” guided excursions from Kreenholm to Narva Museum, and much more.

You can purchase festival passes and day tickets online, with prices set to increase after August 31.
