Spring Blues, Part of the Popular August Blues Festival, Opens in Viimsi Artium

Viimsi Artium will be filled with the blues on Saturday, 26 April, when top musicians will perform at the spring opening of the August Blues Festival 2025 (Augustibluus). The evening’s programme will entertain die-hard blues fans and music-lovers alike.

The festival’s highlight is “Mihkel Raud Goes ZZ”, an ambitious tribute to ZZ Top. Mihkel Raud, a well-known journalist, writer, and politician, but above all musician, brings a gritty Texas vibe to the stage.

The evening’s headliner, Tommy Castro & The Painkillers (USA), is known for their energetic and soulful live performances. Award-winning guitarist and singer Tommy Castro has performed over 6000 shows at the world’s biggest festivals.

“Castro is one of the brightest stars in the blues–soul genre. Greedy blues energy and ultimate soul power…passionate vocals and pure inventiveness in his stunning guitar solos.” —Blues Music Magazine

Finland is represented by Knucklebone Oscar, a charismatic blues–rock showman whose explosive stage energy leaves no one unmoved.

The most intimate section of the evening is provided by father–son duo Raul & Carlos Ukareda. Raul Ukareda is one of Estonia’s most famous blues guitarists. He is a founding member of the band Compromise Blue, and has participated in many musical projects during his long career. Carlos Ukareda is a young singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Carlos became more widely known as one of the finalists of the “Estonian Idol” show. His versatile voice lends itself to many genres.

Doors open at 17:00 and the concert starts at 18:00. Tickets for the Spring Blues opening concert of the August Blues Festival can be purchased here.
