SÄRIN Festival: A Weekend of Music, Art, and TheatreToomas Kuusing

 

The SÄRIN cultural festival is an annual event held in Rapla, in Central Estonia. Known for its diverse and engaging programme, this year’s festival will take place from September 13 to 14. The aim of the event is to bring high-quality cultural experiences to smaller communities, enhance local cultural life, and encourage young people to participate in cultural activities. Over two days, visitors can enjoy theatre, films, literature, exhibitions, concerts, and workshops.

The music programme will feature a range of performers, including Haldi & ans Flamingo, Vennaskond, and the Funk Embassy DJ duo, offering a variety of musical styles. Theatre enthusiasts can look forward to performances such as the experimental piece “Konsiilium” by Paide Teater and Rapla Väikelinnateater’s new production “Mis Buss On.” The festival will also showcase visual art through three different exhibitions, featuring works by Margit Terasmees, Regina-Mareta Soonsein, and Toomas Kuusing.

 

Juhani Hauka’s poetic essay film “Mälestus Elust

 

The literary programme will include writers and poets such as Sveta Grigorjeva and Andreas Ventsel, who will participate in discussions and reading sessions. For film lovers, there will be a range of screenings, including Juhani Hauka‘s poetic essay film “Mälestus Elust” and Martti Helde‘s “Vara Küps”, both of which are sure to provoke thought and conversation.

SÄRIN is more than just a festival; it is an event that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate culture and creativity. The name “SÄRIN” reflects the joy, excitement, and vibrancy of creativity, which is a key part of the local identity and culture.
